5 Elements Yoga & Meditation Retreat, Byron Bay

Our Autumn retreat this year will focus on the 5 elements, namely wood, fire, earth, metal and water. As with Yin and Yang, the five elements are constantly pursuing harmonious relationships with each other. They rely on each other for their existence and management. If one element is weak or dominant, then all the others will also be affected. All things in the universe such as seasons, climates, emotions and internal organs correspond to one of the elements. This retreat run by experienced yoga and meditation teachers Amanda Zdanowicz and Miriam Van Doorn will focus on bringing harmony back into your life.

We will be learning about the 5 elements, trigger points to release tension and stress, specific yoga poses for each meridian corresponding to an organ, Chi Gung exercises to develop internal force also called Chi or Prana and unique yoga practices especially developed for this retreat to balance each of the 5 elements in the body.

The price of the retreat includes a 45 min foot reflexology and neck massage to balance the meridians.


We stay at Tallow Beach Houses, a private 30 acre sanctuary where the beach and the bush come together on the edge of the National Park. Situated halfway between the famous Byron Bay lighthouse and Broken Head with 630 meters of beachfront, uncrowded waves, the friendly wildlife, a tranquil lake and a bicycle track into Byron township complete the scene. 


Accommodation is in 2 or 3-bedroom beachfront cottages situated within a nature reserve and natural bush setting. Self-contained and secluded, each cottage has its own private kitchen/dining/living space and large undercover deck. Some cottages overlook the lake and the beach is just 60 meters away so you can enjoy a great night's sleep to the hypnotic sound of the ocean. 


Our vegan meals are lovingly prepared by Veet's Cuisine using fresh organic ingredients sourced from the local area. Each morning after yoga we enjoy a fresh healthy cleansing juice before our lovely buffet breakfast. Lunch and dinner are both delicious substantial meals but please note we cut out meat, dairy, most wheat and sugar so our bodies are gently cleansing. Tea and fruits are available throughout the retreat as well as purified drinking water. By the end of the retreat you'll be feeling energised, clear and nourished with recipes and ideas for continuing your healthy eating at home. Sample menu.


Friday: Arrive 2.00pm; afternoon tea/introductions; afternoon yoga session; dinner; evening yoga nidra.

Saturday: Morning chi gung/meditation & yoga session; breakfast; free time for treatment/relaxation/optional hike; lunch; afternoon yoga session; dinner; evening yoga nidra.

Sunday: Morning chi gung/meditation & yoga session; breakfast; free time for treatment/relaxation/optional hike; lunch; afternoon yoga session; optional 5-elements talk; dinner; evening yoga nidra.

Monday: Morning chi gung/meditation & yoga session; brunch/farewells; depart by 11.00am.


Standard Room $1,195 - Guests will enjoy the privacy of their own double bedroom in a standard 2-bedroom cottage with shared bathroom and living space. 

Deluxe Room $1,395 - Guests will enjoy the privacy of their own double bedroom plus ensuite bathroom in a deluxe, renovated 2 or 3-bedroom cottage with shared living space.

Price includes all organic vegan meals, yoga & meditation sessions, plus 45 minute reflexology & neck massage.

$200 deposit required on booking to secure your place. Balance payable by 31st March 2017.

Regrettably we cannot accommodate part-time guests. We respectfully request that you attend the whole 4 days to ensure that everyone gets the most benefit from this retreat.
