Many of today’s daily activities promote a muscle imbalance in our shoulders. Overtime, this imbalance can lead to structural limitations such as rounded shoulders and long- term tissue damage, especially if the shoulders are tasked without proper alignment.

In this workshop we will discuss the basic anatomy and biomechanics of the shoulder and learn how to activate the stabilizing muscles of the shoulder girdle in order to build strength, bring balance and maintain safe and proper alignment in such poses as Chaturanga Dandasana (low plank), Adho Mukha Shavanasana (downward facing dog) and more. Through an interactive and dynamic lecture followed by an asana practice linking the lecture you will enhance your understanding of anatomy therefore getting more out of your yoga practice on the mat while promoting postural balance on and off the mat.
