According to Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), there is a fifth season called Late Summer that falls in the last weeks of Summer through to the Autumnal Equinox.
It is known as the Season of Nurturing and Transformation and is the time of transitioning from the Yang energy of Summer to the Yin energy of the cooler months. Late Summer is ruled by the Earth element, and associated with the digestive organs of the Stomach, Spleen and Pancreas
